Listening and observing
Ask further questions without assuming the answers. Notice body language and check with the other person what is actually happening.
Back to organisations One-to-one guidance
You want to help someone move forward. And learn to do that with care.
You know my method and want to learn how to share it with others. Across three sessions, we work together in practice. I am there to observe and give you specific feedback.
How we work togetherWho this is for
Perhaps you have completed a programme with me and want to pass on what you learnt. Or you already support people in your work and want to learn to use my method in that role.
Understanding, applying and mastering are different things. Understanding means knowing what something involves and why you do it. Applying means being able to use it yourself in practice. Mastering goes further: you can use it in different situations and understand what you are doing and why.
Guiding someone else through that is a separate skill. You learn more than how to explain. You learn to recognise what the other person understands, where they get stuck and what they need to move forward for themselves. The aim is not for them to repeat your explanation, but to be able to use what you share.
Before we begin, we explore what you understand, what you can apply and what you have already mastered. From there, we decide what you still need to learn and which parts you can guide someone through with me present.
Three sessions together
You gradually take on more of the guidance yourself. We adapt the progression to your experience and development.
Observe
You see how I listen, ask further questions and adapt my explanations to the person in front of me. Afterwards, we discuss my choices: why that question, those words, that particular moment?
Recognise what is happening and understand why I do what I do.
Work together
You take on parts of the session. I stay alongside you, add to what you are doing and help you adjust where needed. You practise explaining, asking questions and responding to what the other person shows and tells you.
Learn to adapt what you have mastered to another person and share it with care.
Take the lead, with me alongside you
You take the lead in the conversation. I remain present and help where needed. Afterwards, you receive specific feedback: what works, what needs more practice and what is your next step?
See what you can do and where you want to develop further.
What we work on
Ask further questions without assuming the answers. Notice body language and check with the other person what is actually happening.
Adapt your words, examples and tone to the person in front of you. Check whether they have really understood your explanation.
Know your role and responsibilities. Recognise when you can help, when to consult and where your limits lie.
Personal and considered
Three sessions give us a basis for working together and discussing your development. Afterwards, we review what you have mastered and where you still need guidance. Completing these sessions does not automatically qualify you to guide people independently.
We agree in advance who we will practise with and how the sessions will work. If a client is involved, this happens only with their prior consent and clear agreements about roles and confidentiality.
We discuss the content, schedule and costs beforehand, so you know what you are committing to.
Let’s explore it together
Tell me who you want to help and what you want to learn. We can then discuss whether this guidance fits your next step.
