Personal experience
Better is possible. For me too.
“I am no longer a victim of the effects of post-trauma. I am in control.”
Britt was 21 when she described how her world had grown smaller after almost ten years of surviving.
She had followed several treatments and had eventually reached a dead end in care after being described as ‘too complex’. During her first session, her legs shook so severely that she could barely walk.
Only when she stood up afterwards did she realise that her legs were no longer shaking. She felt strength again — in her legs and within herself.
After three sessions, Britt wrote that she was beginning to find herself again, step by step, had regained her appetite for life and cautiously dared to think about the future again. She was not there yet and recovery remained a process. But one thing was clear to her: she was no longer a victim of the effects of post-trauma. She was in control.
This is one person’s experience. One person’s outcome is not a promise to another.
